As a missionary kid, Jonathan Long has called many places his home. He was born in Lexington, Kentucky, but lived the longest time in central Indiana. In 1993, his parents came to Hungary to build a building in the 8th District of Budapest and he lived here for a year. He visited Hungary again in 2006, and 2008 as an adult, and moved here again in 2009.
The first time he experienced Hungary was because of his parents’ short-term ministry assignment, but as an adult he felt God calling him back. As he puts it, God gave him an “unexpected,” and relatively unwanted (at the time) passion for Hungary that led him to return with his wife and kids in 2009.
Jonathan is the Field Leader of the Hungary team. In this role, he gets to lead a team of awesome individuals (his words), united with a passion to see lives changed and dynamic communities multiplied. The team focuses on equipping the church with knowledge and tools to grow the Kingdom of God.
